‘在场一些工人见了，吓得转身就跑，但我们却决定留下，希望找出一个究竟。我们将一台拾音器吊下洞里去，这种拾音器原本是设计用来收听地壳移动的声音。’
‘但奇怪的是，是从喇叭传来的不是地壳移动声，而是人类的惨叫声。最初，我们还以为是仪器本身出了毛病，但当我们调整过后，却证实那些声音的确是来自地底。它不单是一个人的叫声，而是千千万万人的哀号呼救声。’
‘幸好，我们当时已将这些哀叫声用录音机录下，证明我们并非无中生有。我们现已将那个洞口封好，留待有关方面调查。很明显，我们发现了某些超乎常理，但科学无法解释的东西。’
前苏联官方对于此事，并没有作出任何评论。
科拉超深钻孔（Кольскаясверхглубокаяскважина）是苏联于1970年在科拉半岛邻近挪威国界的地区所进行的一项科学钻探，其中最深的一个钻孔达12，262米。

“But hen e made adjustments our orst suspicions ere confirmed. The screams ere
